Marilyn Jean IV Fishing Report — July 30 Night Trip

Last night’s trip, sailing 7:30 PM to 12:30 AM, was an all-out beatdown on croakers. The bite started as soon as the lines hit bottom and never let up, with anglers filling buckets steadily through the whole trip and landing some of the best croaker fishing Captain Anthony has seen in years aboard the Marilyn Jean IV. Take a look:

A few small bluefish worked their way into the mix, along with a handful of Lafayette, better known as spot, to round things out. Croakers get their name from the drumming sound they make when they’re brought up, and last night there was no shortage of noise coming off the rail as the buckets filled.

The night bite has been outrageous all summer, and this stretch is shaping up to be one of the best croaker seasons the boat has had in years. It’s the kind of fishing that works for everyone on board, whether it’s someone’s first time dropping a line or a regular chasing a personal best. Croakers bite fast, bite often, and don’t require much more than patience and a baited hook to bring one up.

The Marilyn Jean IV supplies everything needed for the trip — rods, reels, bait, and buckets are all included, so nobody needs to show up with their own gear or experience. Nights like this make it an especially good time to bring someone new out on the water, since the fish are cooperating enough that even a first cast has a real shot at coming up with dinner.

There’s plenty of room on tonight’s trip, and the Marilyn Jean IV sails every night at 7:30 PM. To book a spot:
