The Marilyn Jean Is Back — Sailing Resumes March 7th, 2026

The wait is over. After our winter maintenance period, the Marilyn Jean is ready to get back on the water.

We’re sailing again starting Friday, March 7th, 2026. That’s when the 2026 fishing season officially begins, and we’re ready to take you out to catch whatever’s biting.

Winter is when we take care of everything the boat needs. Maintenance, cleaning, inspections, repairs — all the work that keeps the Marilyn Jean running smoothly and safely throughout the busy season. That work is done, and the boat is in great shape.

March 7th marks the start of spring fishing season. The water’s warming up, fish are moving, and it’s time to get back out there.

What to Expect in Early Spring

Early spring fishing around NYC brings different opportunities than summer or fall. The species you’re targeting and the conditions on the water change as we move out of winter.

Striped bass start showing up as water temperatures rise. Spring is when the migration begins, and catching stripers becomes more consistent as March turns into April and May.

Blackfish season runs through early spring. If you’re looking to catch tog, March and early April give you opportunities before the season closes.

Early spring can also bring cod depending on water temperatures and conditions. We adjust our trips based on what’s biting and where the fish are.

Weather in early spring is unpredictable. Some days are calm and clear. Others are windy and cold. Dress in layers, bring waterproof gear, and be prepared for changing conditions on the water.

The point is that March 7th isn’t just an arbitrary date. It’s when the fishing season genuinely starts picking up again, and when we’re ready to take you out to productive fishing spots around New York Harbor, Jamaica Bay, Rockaway, and beyond.

Our Schedule Is Live

Our full spring schedule is posted and tickets are available now. You can see all upcoming trips, departure times, and target species on our online calendar.

We’re running full day trips, half day trips, and night fishing trips depending on what’s in season and what’s biting. Our schedule updates regularly as conditions change and different fish become active.

Booking online guarantees your spot. We accept walk-ons when space permits, but trips fill up — especially on weekends and when fishing is hot. If you want to make sure you’re on the boat, buy your ticket in advance.

Group rates, senior discounts, and child discounts are available. If you’re planning a group outing, private charter, or special event, reach out directly and we’ll work with you on scheduling and pricing.

What’s Included

Every trip includes bait. We provide quality bait as part of your ticket cost, so you don’t need to source or bring your own.

Rods and reels are available to rent for $5 if you don’t have your own equipment. We also have tackle available for purchase onboard.

If you book online, you get free rod rental. That’s one more reason to buy tickets in advance rather than waiting to walk on.

Our crew provides guidance throughout the trip. Whether you’re an experienced angler or fishing for the first time, we’re there to help with rigging, technique, and making sure you’re set up for success.

The Marilyn Jean has recently installed air-conditioned main cabins, so you have comfortable space to take breaks, warm up, or get out of the sun during longer trips.

Private Charters Available

The Marilyn Jean is available for private fishing charters and private cruises starting March 7th.

Private charters are ideal for company outings, family gatherings, bachelor parties, birthday celebrations, or any group that wants a customized fishing experience. We provide all equipment, instruction, and can arrange catering packages for your event.

We also offer burials at sea, sightseeing tours, and other private charter services. If you have something specific in mind, reach out and we’ll discuss how we can accommodate your needs.

Private charters book up quickly during peak season. If you’re planning a spring or summer event, contact us now to secure your date.

You can view our complete schedule and book online at our calendar page. See what fish we’re targeting, when trips depart, and what spots are still available.

We’re looking forward to getting back on the water. After 20+ years of running fishing trips out of Sheepshead Bay, the start of a new season never gets old. March 7th can’t come soon enough.

See you on the boat.
